Blog 14: Technology in College

College students share many of the same habits involving the media. The majority of us all have televisions next to our beds and computers at our desks. I am surprised how important my laptop has come in handy throughout my college career. Before college, I rarely used to the computer unless it was to occasionally check and email or chat online. Today, I find myself surfing the web constantly every time I get bored. Another technology that has become very popular among college campuses is the iPod. Personally, I do not use mine as much as the other students unless I am exercising. I see hundreds of students walking to class with the apple headphones in their ears. The apple headphones have become somewhat like a fashion and easily recognizable. Our technology is growing rapidly and forcing us to adapt at the same pace. If we do not own these technologies, we will be left behind and in the past.

I totally agree with you here. Th amount I now use the internet and my iPod has risen dramtically. Before college I only used my iPod at swim meets and on long family cr rides. Now I find myself listening to it from class to class, even if I only get to hear part of a song. I think that it technology is really changing college campuses.

It is kind of crazy how fast technology is moving. This week its the wireless mouse, next week its the labtop that folds into the size of an ipod... I don't know. It just feels like I can't keep up with sometimes, but I do use the internet and tv all the time too.

I couldn't agree with you more. I also usually only use my iPod when I'm exercising, but it amazes me how many people I walk past on the way to class that have their iPod headphones in. Since the iPod first came out, it has become a rapidly expanding invention and it really is taking over college campuses.

I totally agree with how the iPod has become an easily recognizable fashion and cultural statement. It adequately symbolizes one of the most influential inventions of our generation. On the flip side, even though we may be left behind if we don't "jump on the bandwagon", is it also crazy how quickly technology changes so if we miss this train, we can just get on the next one.

I'm not sure I totally agree that if we do not adapt to the growing technology that we will be left behind. The things such as the iPod are not essential to being up to date with technology. Personally though, I find myself in a similar place as you, suprised at how much I use my computer now compared to high school
